Dog Training

Dogs are great companions and are highly intelligent, they can learn just about anything. For owners that love their pets, it takes years to master the art of dog training. Some methods in dog training take more energy and attention than others, while some can be incredibly simple in nature and involve acting or speaking in a certain way to the dog. All of these things, in some way, train a dog from puppyhood to the later years of loyal companionship.
Dog training Tips
Some basic tips for dog training include several categories that subgroup the different field of training that a dog trainer desires to achieve.
One of the most basic trainings that dog owners go through is house training, or, in other words, the training of dogs to not use the bathroom inside the house or in any other non-approved area. The first technique, is by telling the dog that is not ok to use the carpet when they have to urinate or poop. The dog should be talked to in a deep, threatening voice, as soon as the misdeed occurs. Then, take the dog outside so that he or she knows that is where going to the bathroom is done. Most dogs can be taught this in just a few weeks.
Another training that owners usually want their dogs to know is how to stop doing something. The next lesson can work in conjunction with potty training. Puppies like to chew on things, it's in their nature. If you find your dog gnawing on your favorite shoes, take the shoes away and tell them in a deep, low voice, "No!". Then, replace the item with a chewable toy meant for the dog so that he or she knows that the toy is ok to be chewed. They will soon understand the toy is ok to chew on, but that other things aren't. This might take a few weeks.
One more primary trick or ability that dog owners like to teach their dogs is the ability to sit on command. The next technique we will discuss is fairly easy to do. If you want to train your dog to sit, you need to say, "Sit." in a deep voice and then push down on the dog's hindquarters. Once the dog is sitting, give him or her the treat. After practicing this for a couple of weeks, the dog will finally comprehend that sitting down on command brings forth a reward.
These are just a few of the many complex and basic commands that dogs can be taught.
Dog Training Collars
Dog training collars come in several shapes and functions, one of the most used and popular collar on the market is the shock collar. Some training collars are also "electric" which shocks the dog into submisson by sending small electrical impules into the neck. It is meant to mimic the bite an alpha dog would give to a subordinate. It gives no more discomfort to the dog than pulling back on a choke chain or a leash during a walk. In fact, the shock collar is preferable to these chains and leashes because the discomfort is extremely fleeting and leaves no rash or mark on the dog as a result. These collars train the dog where they can go and where they cannot go.
Dog Agility Training
Dog agility training is a form of training that teaches dogs to move quickly through obstacles and with haste around certain structures. This type of training is done for competitions and other events that test the dogs ability and the trainers skills. Dogs that are middle aged, usually do better than young dogs with this training, since they have more patience.

Today there are so many types you need to know what to look for and how to use it.  Traditional dog collars are available in a variety of materials, and are usually buckle-type collars, with a buckle similar to a belt buckle, or the quick-release type.  Style should be secondary after safety and convenience when it comes to the collar you put on your dog.

Do you keep a collar on your dog at all times? It is a very good idea to keep your dogs collar on him all the time except when giving your dog a bath. You just never know what could happen, your dog could get out  and wander to far and get lost.

Most offer around eight months of protection, but some others may offer more or less.

The benefit of using a flea and tick collar is that it would entirely kill the fleas and ticks that exist on your pet’s body. Generally when you use lotions and shampoos, the effects will only be short-lived. The eggs of these fleas would not die using just shampoos and lotions, but by using a flea and tick collar you can be sure that the cycle would be broken. This makes sure that your dogs are free from such insects.

It is extremely important to read the ingredients carefully and check the chemicals for safety on flea and tick collars.  According to the Cancer Prevention Coalition (CPC), ingredients on some flea collars are carcinogens, neurotoxins, or both.

An effective and natural collar can be prepared using repellent essential oils. One way this can be done is by choosing an absorbent collar for your pet, such as the widely available heavy-duty woven nylon collars. The collar will take in essential oils, and no additional collar is needed. Essential oils that repel fleas and ticks include citronella, rosemary, and rose geranium. Obtain 100 percent pure essential oils should be purchased with an eyedropper just put one or two drops on the collar. Each week repeat. Some animals are very sensitive to the strong smell of essential oils, so start with just one drop and increase to two if they seem to tolerate the smell. If ticks are the biggest problem, use rose geranium; for fleas choose citronella if for a dog, but not for cats.
