If the coat comes with any snaps or zippers make sure to avoid pinching any of the dog’s skin, especially down in the abdomen or underbelly region. That’s an especially sensitive part of a dog’s body, and he or she might not take kindly to a human pinching anything or causing some sort of pain.

More people live in apartments than ever before and who really wants to put up with “wet dog smell?” Keeping the dog warm and dry while out on a walk can be a good way to avoid that problem. There are dog coats for special occasions. Some are made to resemble tuxedos, for that special high-class event or dinner. There are little hats, booties and even capes or walking sticks. Where the sticks are carried is a question for some other time.
